kevin daly Architects (kdA) has an exciting position for a Project Architect to join our design practice in Los Angeles. kdA is an architectural practice based in Los Angeles and New York City. Our award-winning portfolio includes environmentally and socially responsive work in the educational, institutional, civic, residential and housing realms.
As an architect with kdA, you will have a wide range of continuous responsibilities throughout the life of the projects. As a small, agile studio, all staff are exposed to the full range of our projects. You will play a major role in kdA’s ongoing projects, and will make a significant contribution to their development.
Successful applicants will have experience with the design and documentation of wood framed buildings (Type V / Type III Construction), and experience with multifamily residential design. Knowledge of local building codes and requirements is a plus; the ability to quickly learn them is a must.
We are looking for individuals who are curious, passionate, articulate and who want to learn and develop. While we expect familiarity with Revit, we hire people that have technical skills as well as a practical approach to design and construction. Understanding history, typology and the formal characteristics of architecture is as important as the practical skills to develop and document the projects we work on.
Responsibilities:
• Leading documentation and detailing of multiple projects and building types
• Observing construction progress on-site during construction administration
• Overseeing project design team progress
• Coordinating project engineers and other consultants
• Presenting design materials to clients
• Project support for project manager
Key requirements:
• 3-7 years’ experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
• Well-rounded design and documentation skills
• Experience in Type V or Type III wood-framed construction
• Experience in multifamily housing design
• All projects in the office are documented in Revit – proficiency is expected
• Academic and professional portfolio that demonstrates design excellence
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

As a small, agile studio, all staff from project managers to junior designers are exposed to the full range of our projects. You will play a major role in kdA’s ongoing projects, and will make a significant contribution to their development.
We are looking for individuals who are curious, passionate, articulate and who want to learn and develop. Understanding history, typology and the formal characteristics of architecture is as important as the practical skills to develop and document the projects we work on. Our practice is anchored by substantial in-house fabrication facilities that we use to test concepts and communicate design ideas, and successful applicants will have experience with, and passion for, the craft of physical model-making.
Responsibilities:
• Involved in all project stages, from concept design to construction administration.
• Resolving design details during project development and documentation
• Production of diagrams and illustrative studies for proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
• Model making for massing studies, concept studies, and presentation models
Key requirements:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience preferred
• Professional degree in Architecture (M. Arch. Preferred)
• Well-rounded design and documentation skills
• Strong traditional shop and digital fabrication background
• Excellent graphical communication abilities
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in Revit
• Academic and professional portfolio that demonstrates design excellence
• Strong sense of self direction: able to manage time effectively to support project goals.
