The heart of the 50 Hudson Yards campus’ civic life is its outdoor landscaped terrace, a reflection of the New York neighborhood square positioned 500 ft above the street – the tallest terrace of its scale in NYC. It is a dynamic rooftop landscape where employees can gather, providing exterior breathing space in an unexpected location. Working with landscape architects SCAPE, kdA positioned dune-inspired landforms and a perforated, mirrored canopy within and atop the terrace to mitigate the site’s high winds and solar exposure, extending its habitable duration from 4 to 9 months out of the year.
